Senior second baseman boasts 3.96 GPA in advertising
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Senior Michelle Lerner of the Temple softball team has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District II University Second Team, the collegiate sports information directors' association announced Thursday.
The CoSIDA recognition is the first for Lerner. The transfer from Eastern Kentucky was just recently named a member of Temple's “Trustee Ten”, a group of the school's top-10 student-athlete's based on grade point average.
Lerner, an advertising major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.96, was the Owls' starting second baseman in all 33 of the games she's played in this season. She has committed just seven errors in 118 chances for a .941 fielding percentage. This team captain is a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and has been on the Dean's List every semester of her college career.
Temple is 18-27 overall this year and will wrap up the 2010 regular-season with two games each at #21 Massachusetts and Rhode Island this weekend.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA and cannot be freshmen or first-year transfers.
