Rukavyshnykova represents on the first-team and all-academic squad

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple's Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First-Team for the second-straight year in voting conducted among the conference head coaches, officials announced today. In the same vote, Josephine Bergman and Theresa Stangl landed on the second team, first-time honors for both of them.

In addition, Rukavyshnykova was named to the Academic All-Conference team for the second time in a separate vote of the Conference's sports information directors.

Rukavyshnykova led Temple with a 17-13 singles record this year, including a 4-2 mark against Atlantic 10 opponents. She found her niche at the second flight, posting a 7-4 record there. In addition, the senior team captain teamed up with junior Lucie Pazderova to register a 13-5 doubles record that featured an undefeated 7-0 record at the number two flight.

Bergman was a utility player for the Owls in the truest sense of the word. The junior played at least one match at every flight during the 2009-10 season. She was most successful at number two, going 4-2.

Stangl had a solid campaign for TU, going 16-11 in singles play while competing at the third and fourth flights. The junior's 8-2 record at number four was tops on the team at that flight and she ended the year on a four-match win-streak. The lefty teamed up with freshman May Johnson to post a competitive 7-5 doubles record at number three.

Joining Rukavyshnykova on the All-Conference first-team are Hailee Elmore, the Most Outstanding Performer and Katie Pleiman, the Outstanding Rookie Performer, as well as Jacqueline Corba and Mimi Hammling of George Washington; Massachusetts' Candynce Boney and Julia Comas; Erin Clark and Kelly Tidwell of Richmond; Charlotte's Andrea Rivera; Rachel McGowan of Duquesne; and Tifanie Treece of Xavier.

In addition to Bergman and Stangl, the All-Conference second-team consists of Charlotte teammates Kimber Redfern and Ana Spivakovsky; Casey Miller and Jenny Nalepa of Saint Louis; Erin Conroy of Duquesne; George Washington's Dorota Lysenia; Pam Emery of Rhode Island; Richmond's Sydney Grant; Manuela Marin-Salcedo of St. Bonaventure; and Xavier's Jill Ducro.

Now in her sixth season as the head coach of George Washington, A-10 Coach of the Year Dawn Buth led the program to its first appearance in the A-10 Championship since 1997.  The fifth-seeded Colonials earned wins over St. Bonaventure (4-0), Duquesne (4-2) and Charlotte (4-3) before falling to Richmond in the finals, 4-0.  GW finished the 2009-10 campaign with 11 victories, its highest total since 2001-02.  A 2002 graduate of the University of Florida, Buth was a seven-time All-America selection and a key member of the Gators' 1996 and `98 NCAA championship teams.

Erin Clark of Richmond repeats as Student-Athlete of the Year after maintaining a 3.96 grade point average while majoring in English and French.  Joining Clark on the Academic All-Conference team is Duquesne's Erin Conroy; Hailee Elmore of Saint Louis; Massachusetts' Maude Lecluyse; Christie Pleiman of Xavier; and Rukavyshnykova.

Rukavyshnykova boasts a 3.81 GPA in kinesiology. She was recently honored by Temple as a member of the President's Honor Roll, awarded to student-athlete's with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
