PHILADELPHIA - Thanks to a sold-out field of 128 players, fantastic weather and another strong sponsor response, the 25th Annual Owl Club Golf Classic netted nearly $50,000 for Temple Athletics on June 7.
The Owl Club's silver anniversary golf tournament returned to its familiar home, Lu Lu Country Club in North Hills, and set record revenue totals. Event organizers Chet Zukowski and Mike Bamonti reported that a net revenue of $49,135 was realized on over $70,100 gross income. The 2010 edition saw the playing field increase by 20 golfers, sponsorships increase by nearly $5,800 and expenses fall thanks to a revised partnership with Lu Lu.
“We are grateful first to Lu Lu Country Club for putting their best foot forward so that our participants may enjoy a fabulous day while raising maximum dollars for Temple Athletics,” said Associate Athletics Director for Development Scott Koskoski. “We're equally thankful that our individual and corporate sponsors continue to line up behind the tournament. Finally, it's great to welcome a sold-out playing field to celebrate and support our Owls' quest for comprehensive excellence.”
Major sponsors include Pepsi, New Era, Front Row Marketing, Under Armour, the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Federal Credit Union.
Temple Hall of Fame Coaches Wayne Hardin and John McDonald were among the field, joining current Temple coaches Al Golden, Fran Dunphy, Tonya Cardoza and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Bill Bradshaw. Each current coach joined Bradshaw in reviewing and previewing their respective seasons at the post-golf dinner.
The 26th Owl Club Golf Classic is already set for Monday, June 6, 2011 at Lu Lu Country Club.
