Owls Among National Leaders for Bronko Nagurski & Outland Trophies
DALLAS – Temple juniors Adrian Robinson (Harrisburg, Pa.) and Muhammad Wilkerson (Linden, N.J.) have been named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Outland Trophy Watch Lists, respectively, the Football Writers Association of America announced on Monday.
Robinson is one of 76 football players under consideration for the 2010 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, presented annually to the nation's best defensive player.
A defensive end, Robinson was named the 2009 Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year as well as first-team All-MAC. He played in all 13 games with 10 starts at left end. Robinson led Temple and the MAC with 13 sacks, finishing the season with 46 tackles, including a team-best 14 TFL, a team-best five forced fumbles, three break-ups, and three hurries.
The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Nov. 18. The presentation banquet is slated for Dec. 6 in Charlotte, N.C.

Wilkerson is one of 63 football players under consideration for the 2010 Outland Trophy, presented annually to the nation's best interior lineman.
A defensive tackle, Wilkerson was a first-team All-MAC honoree last fall. He started all 13 games and was one of nine players to start every game. One of just two underclassmen to start every game, Wilkerson finished the season with 61 tackles, 10.5 TFL, seven sacks, four break-ups, and three hurries.
The Outland Trophy, presented annually since 1946, is the third oldest award in major college football. The winner of the Outland Trophy, named after the late John Outland, an All-America lineman at Penn and Kansas at the turn of the century, will be announced on The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show on Dec. 9.
The Outland Trophy presentation banquet, sponsored by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee, will be held on Jan. 13 in Omaha, Neb.
