Owls Open Season on Sept. 3 with Villanova

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple University football team continued training camp on Saturday at Edberg-Olson Hall.

Owl Outlook: Day 8 video

Owl Outlook is back for Day 8 of training camp, and with the Owls partaking in their first full-contact scrimmage, there is plenty to talk about. Today's episode features sit-downs with defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson (Linden, N.J.) and offensive lineman Steve Caputo (Kennett Square, Pa.).

Wilkerson (6-5, 305 lbs.) was a first-team All-MAC selection in 2009 after racking up 61 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, four pass break-ups, three quarterback hurries and a blocked kick. The junior was recently named to the 2010 Outland Trophy Watch List, given to the nation's top defensive lineman. Now donning No. 9 after previously wearing No. 96, Wilkerson will once again be a dominant force on the interior line for the Owls' defense. Caputo (6-5, 320 lbs.), a junior, is one of the more versatile linemen on the team, starting nine games last season at both tackle and guard. The former three-star recruit was one of the linemen elected to receive the Owl Award as Offensive MVP in 2009 (given to the entire offensive line).

The Temple video staff will provide insight into the team's progress with video reports posted every day after practice.

Practices are closed to the general public.

Temple opens the 2010 season on Friday, Sept. 3 with Villanova at 5 p.m. in the second annual Mayor's Cup at Lincoln Financial Field.
