Bernard Pierce to Appear on Several ESPN Shows Today

Owl Football Kicks Off on Sept. 3 vs. Villanova
PHILADELPHIA – Temple's Heisman Trophy candidate Bernard Pierce (Ardmore, Pa.) is in Bristol, Conn., today, for an ESPN “car wash”, visiting several ESPN shows in one day.
The sophomore running back is slated to appear on “First Take” at 10:50 a.m. (ESPN2); Sportscenter.com at 11:30 a.m.; a live chat ESPN.com at 1:30 p.m.; and “College Football Live” at 3:30 p.m. (ESPN).
A 2010 preseason All-American and first-team All-Mid-American Conference honoree, Pierce was named the team's inaugural newcomer of the year. A 2009 Freshman All-American, MAC Freshman of the Year, and first-team All-MAC selection, he set the freshman records for yards (1,361), touchdowns (16), and 100-yard rushing games (6). He also set the single-season records for TDs (16) and points scored (96).

Temple kicks off the 2010 football season in the second annual Mayor's Cup against Villanova at Lincoln Financial Field on Friday, Sept. 3 at 5 p.m.
Under fifth-year head coach Al Golden, the Owls return 56 lettermen, including 16 starters, from the 2009 squad that finished 9-4 overall and 7-1 in the Mid-American Conference en route to an appearance in the EagleBank Bowl. The Owls have been picked by the media to win the 2010 East Division and the MAC Championship game.
