JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Senior Steph Ferretti netted a first half goal and sophomore Gillian Kacsuta made three saves to secure a 1-0 win for the Temple women's soccer team (3-3-0) over East Tennessee State (3-2-1) in the ETSU Soccer Invitational presented by DoubleTree Hotel.
In the 10th minute of the match, the junior connection of Niki Conn and Allicia 'Sha' Yurkovic set up Ferretti, who fired a shot from the penalty area into the back of the net. It was Ferretti's second goal of the season, making for Conn and Yurkovic's second assists of the year.
ETSU pressured in the first half, outshooting the Owls 5-2. The Temple defense turned it around in the second stanza, holding the host to just two shots.
Kacsuta did her best to keep the Bucs off the scoreboard, securing the team's second shutout of the season. She also picked up her second win of the season, now owning a perfect mark of 2-0.
The Owls close out action in the ETSU Soccer Invitational on Sunday, when they take on Miami (Ohio) at 1:00 p.m. Miami (Ohio) took down Winthrop in earlier action today, 2-0.
