MISSOULA, Mont. - For its second match in a row, the Temple volleyball team won the first set but could not keep the momentum going. The Owls (2-6) earned a 25-20 win in set one against Utah State (8-0) but lost the next three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-11, 25-22. TU will face Montana in the final match of the Montana Invitational at 9:00 p.m. (EST).
Jovana Radojevic and Collin Wallace each had 12 kills to lead Temple, while Ariel Pierre had a match-high 24 digs.
Utah State hit a negative .022 in the opening set, while Temple fared a little better, hitting .098. The Owls scored seven straight points to break a 10-10 tie en route to the five-point win.
Temple's hitting woes continued while the Aggies' hitting improved and they won the second set easily. Utah State scored the first seven points of the third set and held the Owls to just 11 points.
Utah State led by as many as six in the fourth set before Temple rallied to tie it at 20-20. With the set tied at 22, the Aggies scored the final three points to seal the win.
