Box Score

AMBLER, Pa.
- Returning home after a rainy 0-0 tie at Hofstra on Thursday, the Temple men's soccer team (0-3-2) dropped a close game to Fairleigh Dickinson (2-3-0), 2-1, in double overtime at Ambler Sports Complex.  The Owls led their opponents in shots 15-8, but could not net the golden goal in overtime.

Fairleigh Dickinson struck first in the 36th minute as Dominic Reinold hit a loose ball off a bounce to beat Temple redshirt-senior keeper Brett Mollon to the far right post.  Karlis Putans provide the assist on the goal for FDU.

Temple came out strong in the second half and responded with a goal in the 49th minute by freshman Vaughn Spurrier.  Sophomore Cody Calafiore dribbled in towards the goal from about midfield and connected with Spurrier, who blasted a shot from the 18 past FDU's keeper to the top right corner of the net.  The goal marks Spurrier's first career goal and Calafiore's first assist as an Owl.

Temple keeper Mollon made a leaping save to keep his team in the game when FDU's Michael Calderon blasted a line drive at the net from 20-yards out in the 71st minute.  Mollon made two saves on the game.

Temple had an opportunity to score with time running out in regulation but could not find the net.  With 15-seconds remaining, junior Evan Bransdorfer's shot was saved by a diving FDU keeper Zaineh, which led to a corner.  Bransdorfer's shot off the rebound from the corner was blocked as time expired in regulation.

The Owls had a costly breakdown in the 101st minute when Dominic Reinold knocked in the game-winning goal off of a FDU corner.  Michael Calderon's corner from the right side hit off teammate Samson Malijani and bounced over towards Reinold, who beat Mollon to the far left post for his second goal of the day.  Both Caldreon and Malijani assisted the goal.

The Temple men's soccer team looks to bounce back this Wednesday when they face Rider at 3:30 at Ambler Sports Complex.
