Box Score

AMBLER, Pa.
- A three-goal first half propelled the Temple men's soccer team (1-3-2) past Rider (0-6-0) 4-0, Wednesday afternoon at Ambler Sports Complex.  Senior Max Kinderwater dished three assists, setting up two of the Owls' three first half goals.

"I think at times we played well," commented head coach Dave MacWilliams. "I think it's a start for us and I think we needed to get that first win.  Today we made it a point to finish this game.  Hopefully we can use this as a springboard and take one game at a time."

Witmer opened the scoring in the seventh minute, taking a Ryan Bradbury pass from 18-yards out and ripping it into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

He wasted no time extending the Owls' lead, taking a pass from Kinderwater and crossing a ball to sophomore Matt MacWilliams.  MacWilliams took the pass and buried a shot to the left post for his first goal of the season to give the Owls a 2-0 lead.

"It's definitely a start," said Kinderwater. "We have a lot of young guys, but now that we have a win and can hopefully get things going. I was struggling a little bit earlier in the year, but I usually like to give out assists.  It feels good to get my teammates a few goals."

Kinderwater had a hand in the next goal, crossing a ball through the box which freshman Ryan Bradbury one-timed in the air to the top left corner.  The goal marked the first of Bradbury's career.

Up 3-0 heading into the break, the Owls outshot Rider 15-3.  The defense played steadily in the half, not allowing a shot on goal.

Kinderwater dished his third assist of the game in the 61st minute, battling down the right line and sending a pass in for sophomore Cody Calafiore, who chipped in a shot to put the Owls up for good at 4-0.

On the game, Temple outshot Rider 22-5.  Owls' keeper Bret Mollon (1-3-2) earned his first win of the season.  Redshirt-freshman Fran Nelms played a the final third of the second half, making one save.

The Owls travel to face Siena on Saturday, September 25, traveling to compete at 1:00 p.m.
