STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - A late first half goal and another out of the break gave the Temple women's soccer team (5-5-0) a 2-0 win over Wagner (4-7-0), Sunday afternoon at Wagner Stadium. Sophomore Kate Yurkovic netted the eventual game winner for the Owls in the 35th minute, on a feed from her sister junior Allicia 'Sha' Yurkovic.

The Owls were outshot in both periods, but solid work in the net from junior Tara Murphy kept the Seahawks off the board. Murphy (2-2-0) made six saves on the day to preserve the shutout. Wagner keeper Katie Marcy made five stops on the day in the loss.

Junior Niki Conn padded the Owls lead with her team leading sixth goal of the season in the 54th minute, netting unassisted with some skilled dribbling through the Wagner defense.

Up next, the Owls open their Atlantic 10 Conference slate with a trip to George Washington on October 1.
