Men's Soccer Battles To Scoreless Tie In Lafayette Puma Classic Opener

Mollon preserves shutout with eight save performance

EASTON, Pa. - Redshirt-senior Bret Mollon made eight saves to preserve the shutout as the Temple men's soccer team (0-0-1) battled to a scoreless tie with Colgate (0-0-1), Friday afternoon in the opening round of the Lafayette Puma Classic. Mollon was tested early, being forced to make six stops in the first half alone.

Junior Tyler Witmer fueled the Owls' attack throughout the game, posting three shots. Sophomore Matt MacWilliams and classmate Cody Calafiore each tested Colgate keeper Grant Reed once, along with junior Andrew Dodds and freshmen Dalton Carroll and Sawyer Hemmer.

Temple started two true freshman in the contest - Nolan Hemmer and Ryan Bradbury, while Carroll, Bradbury, S. Hemmer and Vaughn Spurrier all made their collegiate debuts.

The Owls defense slowed the Colgate attack in the second half, limiting their foe to two shots. 

Up next, Temple closes out the Lafayette Puma Classic against host Lafayette on Sunday, September 5 at 2:30 p.m.
