TEMPLE-CENTRAL MICHIGAN CONNECTIONS
Temple has no players on its roster from the state of Michigan. Central Michigan has just one player from Pennsylvania— true freshman QB Kyle Smith (Leola, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic HS).
TEMPLE-CENTRAL MICHIGAN— THE SERIES
Despite the fact that Temple has sponsored football since 1894 and Central Michigan has fielded a gridiron team since 1896, Thursday's contest is just the teams' third meeting ever and second meeting as MAC rivals.
In the teams' first meeting on Nov. 4, 2006, Central Michigan claimed a 42-26 win at Lincoln Financial Field. As a sophomore, QB Adam DiMichele threw three touchdown passes and caught another while completing 24 of 35 passes for 228 yards. Senior RB Tim Brown had his fourth 100-yard performance, carrying 23 times for 101 yards while also throwing the aerial score to DiMichele. WR Bruce Francis, as a sophomore, had two scoring grabs as the Owls out-scored the Chippewas 19-14 in the second half. As a redshirt freshman, CMU QB Dan LeFevour threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns while scoring on a six-yard run.
In their last meeting on Oct. 10, 2008, the Chippewas claimed a 24-14 in front of a homecoming crowd of 22,114 fans at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The Owls' offense mustered 301 total yards to the Chippewas 297, but four turnovers proved to be the downfall for the Cherry and White. In just his third start, r-freshman QB Chester Stewart completed 15 passes on a career-high 32 attempts for 163 yards. Senior wide receiver Bruce Francis made six receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown, while freshman Kee-ayre Griffin scored for the second straight game since moving over to offense. He had 76 yards in 12 carries, including a 29-yard run.
