Women's Tennis Selected to Finish Third in Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll

Returning all-conference players Bergman and Stangl lead TU in 2011
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Temple women's tennis team has been selected to finish third in the 14-team Atlantic 10 women's tennis conference. After winning its sixth title in the past seven seasons a year ago, Richmond has been selected to capture its third-straight championship in 2011, according to a vote of the league's head coaches.
George Washington was selected to finish second in the conference.
Temple is led by returning seniors and 2010 All-Conference second-team selections Josephine Bergman and Theresa Stangl. Bergman played at least one match at every flight during the 2009-10 season and was most successful at number two singles, going 4-2. Stangl had a solid campaign for TU, going 16-11 in singles play while competing at the third and fourth flights.
Xavier was selected to finish fourth, followed by Massachusetts, Charlotte, Saint Louis, Duquesne, Rhode Island, Dayton, Saint Joseph's, Fordham, St. Bonaventure and La Salle.
The 2011 A-10 Women's Tennis Championship will be held April 8-10 at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
