1.31.11 | Men's Basketball

Two milestones on the horizon for Owls in the contest

Game Notes

PHILADELPHIA -
Temple makes its second straight Atlantic 10 Conference road trip inside the city limits when the Owls travel up Broad Street to take on the La Salle Explorers Wednesday (7:00 p.m.).  The game is available on a free audio stream at owlsports.com with a paid videostream also available.

The Owls, under the direction of Fran Dunphy, have won two straight to improve to 15-5 overall and 5-2 in league play.  Senior forward Lavoy Allen (10.6 ppg./6.6 rpg.), who needs just five rebounds to become the fifth Temple player to grab 1000 career boards, has posted two consecutive double-doubles.  Junior Ramone Moore (14.8 ppg.) continues to pace a balanced offensive attack that includes four double-figure scorers.  Juniors Scootie Randall (10.5 ppg.) and Juan Fernandez (10.4 ppg.), who has missed the last two games due to a knee injury, join Allen and Moore as double-digit scorers while sophomore Khalif Wyatt (8.7 ppg.) has averaged 17.5 points over the last four outings.

La Salle, under the direction of Dr. John Giannini, has won its last three games, including a dramatic 91-86 double overtime win at Charlotte Saturday.  The win evened the Explorers record at 11-11 and into a three-way tie for eighth place in the A-10 with a 3-4 mark.

Sophomore forward Aaric Murray leads La Salle in scoring (15.3 ppg.), rebounding (8.1 rpg.) and blocked shots (47).  Three other Explorers - Jerrell Williams (14.3 ppg.), Ruben Guillandeaux (12.8 ppg.) and Earl Pettis (10.1 ppg.) - also average double figures.

Temple leads the all-time series, 67-40, and the Owls have won 10 of the last 13 meetings. Dunphy, a former La Salle standout ('67-70)?and assistant coach ('79-80, '85-88), enters ths game one win shy of his 100th at Temple.  He would be the sixth TU?coach the reach that milestone.
