Witmer Propels Owls to 1-0 Win Over Howard

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Temple's defensive unit held the Howard Bison to two shots for the game, including a shotless second half, which secured the 1-0 lead senior Tyler Witmer nabbed for the Owls in the 38th minute in the team's final non-conference match of the season.
In a game where he did not have to face a single shot, rookie goalkeerper Bobby Rosato picked up his second shutout victory of the season .
Howard exhausted both of its scoring opportunities in the first 34 minutes, as Donny-Joshua Felix launched a shot over the net before Gary Clark kicked a shot wide right.
Witmer moved into a tie with junior Cody Calafiore for the team lead in points scored this season when he put a ball past Eric Hamilton for his second goal of the season.
Calafiore showed he's made a significant recovery from an injury he sustained earleir this season. Calafiore made his way back into the starting lineup for the first time since Sept. 11 at Brown.
With the win, the Owls snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 4-5-0 on the season. Now with non-conference play in the rear view, Temple continues its current five-game road swing when it heads to Richmond, Va. to take on the Spiders in its Atlantic 10 Conference opener on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m..
