Both players see success on first day of competition
TULSA, Okla. – Temple's Filip and Kacper Rams are active at the ITA All-American Championship, being held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa. The event is scheduled to take place from October 1-9, 2011.
Both TU players were active in the Pre-Qualifying round on Saturday, October 1. Kacper Rams won by default in the first round, before moving on to defeat Kester Black of Wichita State, 6-1, 6-3. He will face Jamie Whiteford of William & Mary on Sunday.
Filip Rams earned a bye in the opening round. In his first action, it took him three sets, but the captain eventually got past Pablo Perez-Esnaola of SMU, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1. Filip will take on Duke's Luke Marchese on Sunday.
“It was a strong performance for both Rams' brothers,” commented head coach Steve Mauro. “This is a great opportunity to participate with such a prestigious field of competition. This event is probably the strongest tournament in college tennis, and Filip and Kacper represented Temple well today.”
Both players continue play on Sunday, October 2.
