AMBLER, Pa. — Temple Men's Soccer and the University of Dayton battled through a scoreless tie for 86 minutes before Dayton's Greg Enstone buried a shot in the left corner of the net to break the deadlock. The late goal stunned the Owls and everyone in attendance at the Ambler Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon, as the Flyers' 1-0 lead held up for the final three minutes, dropping Temple to 3-2-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, while falling back to .500 on the year with a record of 7-7-0.

Temple nearly tied the game in the closing seconds when sophomore Andrew Dodds blasted a shot that just missed the upper-part of the net, as the ball went over the net.

The first half of the match was very evenly played, as both Temple and Dayton had significant scoring chances in the opening 45 minutes. The Owls outshot the Flyers, 7-6, at the midway point. Sophomore Dalton Carroll nearly had Temple on the board in the 10th minute when his shot was denied by Dayton goalkeeper Alec Storm.

Out of the Owls' 21 total shots, Carroll put up a game-high with seven. Carroll played all 90 minutes for the first time this season, due to senior Tyler Witmer missing the first game of his collegiate career after sustaining an injury in Friday's game against Xavier.

Energy for both sides did not emerge until the later part of the first half, but carried over to the next session when the teams returned to the field after the intermission.

Temple penetrated Dayton's zone for most of the second half, having two more strong scoring chances guided by Carroll, but both shots on net were once again turned away by Storm.

Dayton's goal in the 86th minute ended sophomore goalkeeper Bobby Rosato's streak of 267 consecutive minutes of not allowing a goal. Rosato finished Sunday's match with three saves.

The loss ends the Owls' two-game winning streak and puts them in a four-way tie for fifth place in the A-10 standings. Dayton picked up its fourth straight win, helping to improve itself to 5-11-0 on the year and 4-2-0 in conference play.

With two weekends to go in the regular season, Temple gears up for its final road trip, as it will make stops to Pittsburgh, Pa. and Olean, N.Y. to battle Duquesne and St. Bonaventure, respectively.

The Owls will get their match with the Duquesne Dukes underway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
