DAYTON, Ohio – In its final road match of the 2011 season, Temple Women's Soccer fell 7-1 to the University of Dayton at Bajuan Field on Sunday afternoon. The Flyers, who were receiving votes in the latest NSCAA poll, proved to be too much for the Owls. Dayton took a commanding 4-0 lead before Temple senior Niki Conn scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 51st minute after redirecting a deflected shot by classmate Tiia Kuokka.
Despite being barraged by Dayton's offense, redshirt junior Tara Murphy made a season-high nine saves in goal.
Dayton (14-3-0, 5-2-0) outshot the Owls, 22-2 for the game. Juliana Libertin scored three of the seven Flyer goals, which gave her a hat trick in the match.
The seven goals by Dayton marks the second time and matches Temple's season-high for goals allowed in a game this season.
Temple return home to the Ambler Sports Complex this weekend, where it will close out its 2011 campaign. The Owls (4-12-0, 1-6-0) will host the Duquesne Dukes on Friday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. opening kick.
