PHILADELPHIA - Temple volleyball continues a four-match homestand this weekend as the Owls host La Salle on Friday night, Oct. 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the "Battle for Broad Street," and then conclude the homestand against Saint Louis on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Temple needs to turn around recent struggles to keep alive its hopes for earning an Atlantic 10 Tournament berth.

The Owls (6-16, 2-7) have every reason to believe they can get a win against visiting La Salle on Friday, as they have done so twice already this season. The Explorers (5-21, 1-8) come in with a five-match losing streak and already suffered two 3-1 losses to Temple this season.

Leading the way for the Owls are a trio averaging more than three kills per set. Collin Wallace (3.30 kills/set), Elyse Burkert (3.17 kills/set) and Gabriella Matautia (3.13 kills/set) have provided a balanced attack as well as strong defense. All three average more than two digs per set, with Wallace leading the way at 3.01 digs per set.

Tiffany Connatser has had an impressive freshman season as Temple's starting setter. Connatser is averaging 9.77 assists/set along with 2.62 digs/set, and has notched 10 assist-dig double-doubles. Defensively, junior libero Chelsea Tupuola leads Temple and ranks fourth in the A-10 with 4.35 digs per set. Sophomore Emily Frazer leads the team in blocking with 57 total blocks (0.83 per set).

On Sunday at 1:00 p.m., Saint Louis will visit McGonigle Hall for the second match-up between the two teams this season. The Billikens, who are 11-8 overall and second in the A-10 at 7-2, earned a sweep of the Owls on their home floor on Oct. 14.

Following Sunday's match, the Owls will host a free Volleyball Clinic for middle school and junior high girls (8th grade and younger). All clinic participants must be able to show proof of insurance. For more information, check out the Clinic Flyer.
