Men’s Crew Has a Solid Opening Weekend at the Navy Day Regatta

PHILADELPHIA – The 2011-2012 Temple men's varsity rowing program officially began its fall season with the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River on Saturday October 8.
The Men's Varsity 4+ event saw both Owl entries finish in the top ten with the Men "A" finishing in 4th place with a time of 13:34.32 and Men "B" finishing in 6th place with a time of 14:11.32. Navy Men "A" went on to win the race with a time of 13:09.93
The Men's Varsity 8+, comprised of Don Norris (coxswain), Jimmy Barr (stroke), Aaron Heyde (7-seat), Mike Mirabella (6-seat), Brian Reehill (5-seat), Fergal Barry (4-seat), Joseph Bellesheim (3-seat), Kevin Nally (2-seat) and Brand Joyce (bow) finished second in the Men's Championship Eight with a time of 12:33.20 right behind Navy who went on to win the event with a time of 12:10.27.
The Men's JV 8+ comprised of Matt Sbei (coxswain), John Boehm (stoke), Mike VanAssche (7-seat), Petar Ivacic
(6-seat), Djordje Vilimanovic (5-seat), Maciej Grudzien (4-seat), Piotr Grudzien (3-seat), Trey Ehmer (2-seat) and
Alex Klein (bow) finished in 7th place with a time of 13:10.69. Navy Men “A” went on to win the race with a time
of 12:10.63.
The Owls next compete at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on October 29th, 2011.
