Men's Tennis Players Compete at Hofstra Fall Invitational

Kacper Rams and Gishkaev advance in doubles play
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Temple men's tennis team sent three members to the Hofstra Fall Invitational, held at the Hofstra Tennis Center on Friday-Sunday, October 7-9, 2011. Mansur Gishkaev, Kacper Rams and Li Tang represented the Owls at the tournament.
Play began on Friday afternoon with doubles action. Rams and Gishkaev paired up to take on Hofstra's Tyler Allan and Laurent Octubre, defeated the duo 8-2. The Owls' team then beat Tomasz Olfans and Benas Majauskas of Concordia, 8-6, before defeating Joao Tasca and Bryan Keelan of NJIT, 8-6, in the quarterfinal round. The pair will play for the title against Concordia's Daniele Piludu and Geza Bazula at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
In TU's other action, Tang was teamed up with Hostra's Jason Sinkoff to play doubles. The duo dropped their first match, 8-6, to Fraser Croad and Angelito Mamutuk of NJIT. In the consolation round, Ari Richman and Antonio Pena of Hofstra handed Tang and his Pride partner an 8-2 defeat.
Singles play begins Saturday morning.
