Temple’s Matt Brown Named MAC Offensive Player of the Week

Owls Host Army on Saturday at 1 p.m.
CLEVELAND – Temple junior RB Matt Brown (Baltimore, Md.) has earned Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for the East division, the MAC announced on Monday.
In Wednesday's 24-21 win over Miami [OH], junior Matt Brown made his first start of the season for the Owls. He rushed 24 times for 123 yards and a touchdown. It was the fourth 100-yard rushing game of the season and eighth of his career, moving him up to No. 4 on the career list.
Brown finished with 172 all-purpose yards. The Owls' top returner, he had four kickoff returns for 53 yards.
The win made the Owls bowl eligible for the third consecutive season, a first in school history. The win also gave Temple a school record for wins in three consecutive seasons (23).
After 10 games, Brown is second in team rushing with 702 yards and three touchdowns on 123 carries. He is the team leader in punt returns with 15 returns for 145 yards (9.7 avg.) and in kickoff returns with 24 returns for 561 yards (23.4 avg.).
In this week's national statistics, Brown is No. 25 in punt returns (9.67) and No. 26 in all-purpose running (141.50).
The MAC honor is the second of Brown's career and his first this season.
Brown was also named the OwlSports.com Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Temple (6-4, 4-3 MAC) hosts Army (3-7) on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field. The game will be televised by espn3.com.
