AMBLER, Pa. -
Temple Men's Soccer (8-8-0,4-3-0) enters its final weekend of the regular season as it looks to close out strong and clinch a spot in next week's Atlantic 10 Tournament. Fortunately for the Owls, they get to return home to the Ambler Sports Complex for these important  two regular season games. On Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., Temple will find itself in a pivotal mathup when it takes on the La Salle Explorers (5-7-4, 3-1-3). Currently, the Owls and Explorers are sitting in a four-way tie along with Saint Louis and Dayton for the sixth and final spot in next week's tournament.

Winners of five of their last eight games, the Owls come into the weekend fresh off being ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA's Mid-Atlantic Region poll.

On Sunday, the Owls pulled out a 2-1 win at St. Bonaventure when sophomore Nolan Hemmer put Temple in front with just over three minutes remaining while the team played down a man.

Junior Cody Calafiore leads the Owls with 12 points on the year. He's already equaled his total in goals from last season. Senior Tyler Witmer returned to Temple's lineup last weekend after suffering an injury against Xavier. Witmer is second on the team with 11 points. When he has scored a goal, the Owls are 8-0-0 over the last two years.

About La Salle: The Explorers are looking to rebound after a tough 4-0 road loss to Fordham last Friday. They are led by sophomore midfielder Jason Plumhoff, who leads the team with 16 points (six goals, four assists) and is tied for fourth in the A-10.

La Salle has been to overtime seven times this fall, five of which have gone to double-overtime. In those games, the Explorers are 2-1-4.

Sophomore goalkeeper John McCarthy has shut out four opponents this season, helping him to boast a 1.55 goals against average.

A year ago, the Explorers were A-10 Championship finalists, as they fell to Xavier in last season's conference championship game.

Series History: Temple leads the all-time series 45-16-2, but has lost the last two meetings; the last meeting coming in a non-conference game last year at McCarthy Stadium. However, in 2008, the last time Temple played La Salle at home, the Owls won, 1-0.

Up Next: The Owls will close out the 2011 regular season schedule when it hosts Fordham on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.  A special ceremony to honor Temple's three seniors will take place promptly at 12:45 p.m.

The Fordham Rams (9-6-1, 5-2-0) are coming off a 4-0 blowout win last Friday at home against La Salle. The game was senior day for Fordham and senior Aaron Markowitz had a pair of goals for the Rams to help lead them to victory on the last home game of the season. Also worth mentioning, this week Fordham is receiving national attention. In the latest NSCAA national rankings, Fordham began receiving votes for the Top 25. They are currently slotted as the No. 2 ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
