Owls will also put on a second free clinic for ages 13 and under after Sunday's match
PHILADELPHIA - The final two home matches of the Temple volleyball season will be fun ones for the Owls' fans, as Temple is hosting Duquesne for "Cosby Sweater Day" on Friday, Nov. 11 at 3:00 p.m., and will play host to Xavier for "Senior Day" on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Following Sunday's match, the team will host their second free clinic for fans ages 13 and under.
Live stats will be available for both matches HERE, and live webcasts will also be available to subscribers HERE.
All those in attendance on Friday are encouraged to wear their favorite funky sweaters in honor of Cosby Sweater Day. Famous comedian Bill Cosby was a 1962 graduate of Temple and was a football player for the Owls who earned induction into the Temple Athletics Hall of Fame in 1984.
Temple will be looking to avenge an earlier road loss at Duquesne on Oct. 16. Although the Owls will not earn a berth in the A-10 Tournament, Temple has had an improved season over its performance a year ago, and a number of matches that were close to going its way.
Sophomores Elyse Burkert and Gabriella Matautia are averaging a team-best 3.16 kills per set, with senior Collin Wallace right there with 3.15 kills/set. Wallace is also second on the team with 2.99 digs per set, while junior Chelsea Tupuola leads the team in that category with 4.27 digs/set. Freshman Tiffany Connatser has had a strong rookie season, leading the team with 9.65 assists per set and ranking third with 2.63 digs/set. The blocking leader for the Owls is sophomore Emily Frazer at 0.84 blocks/set.
Prior to Sunday's 12:30 p.m. match against Xavier, Temple will honor three seniors playing in the final match of their careers. Wallace along with fellow seniors Liz Prang and Rikia Trischuk will be recognized as part of Senior Day.
Xavier currently ranks second in the Atlantic 10, and defeated the Owls 3-0 when the teams met in Cincinnati on Sept. 21.
For the free clinic that will follow Sunday's match, the team asks that all participants bring a copy of their proof of insurance. The entire team and coaching staff will be on hand to give instruction to any fans in middle school or below. For more information, contact the volleyball office at 215-204-6289 or by emailing templevb@temple.edu.
