Prezioso and Nyman both hit homeruns in loss

ORLANDO, Fla. - Sara Buchholz tossed a complete-game to lead North Carolina over Temple 8-3 Friday afternoon in game two of the Citrus Classic. Freshman Sarah Prezioso and sophomore Crystal Nyman both hit homeruns in the loss.
The Owls got on the board in the first inning scoring two runs on two hits. Prezioso belted a two-run home run over the right field fence to give Temple an early 2-0 lead.
Carolina answered, manufacturing four runs on three hits and one Temple error in the bottom half of the frame. Haleigh Dickey knocked in three Tar Heels with a two-RBI single to left center and another Tar Heel scored on a TU error. Kelsey Green then ripped a two-out RBI single into the right center field gap to score Dickey. UNC owned a 4-2 lead after one frame of play.
The Tar Heels stretched their lead to 6-2 in the third frame. Green knocked in pinch-runner Amy Nece with a RBI single into center field. A bases loaded walk issued to Ally Blake scored another Tar Heel in the bottom of the third.
A solo home run off the bat off Nyman inched Temple back at 6-3 in the top of the fourth. Carolina answered, tacking on another run in the bottom of the frame on a RBI single off the bat of Brittany Robinson. The senior knocked in pinch-runner Dani Manko after classmate Brittany McKinney reached on a double. Carolina led 7-3 over Temple after five frames of play.
The Tar Heels added another in the fifth frame, scoring for the third consecutive inning. Blake knocked in Kelli Wheeler on a deep RBI sacrifice fly to center field. Buchholz continued to preserve the lead, limiting Temple to no runs in the final three frames.
Temple (3-4) goes up against Illinois State at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow.
