Temple Football Adds Two Student-Athletes to Signing Class

PHILADELPHIA  – The Temple University Football Program, under the leadership of first-year head coach Steve Addazio, has signed two additional student-athletes, bringing the total for the 2011 Class to 23 signees.

Joining the Owls this fall will be WR John Christopher (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and DE Ari Nwobi (Jackson, N.J.).

Three-year letterwinner, Christopher played wide receiver for coach Marc Beach at Seabreeze High School. The two-time first-team All-District honoree participated in the Central Florida All-Star Game. As a senior, he had 29 catches for 428 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 14.8 yards per catch. A2009 first-team All-Area by the Daytona News-Journal as a junior, Christopher had 40 receptions for 656 yards and seven touchdowns.

Nwobi played on the defensive and offensive lines for coach Tim Osborn at Jackson Liberty High School. A 2011 Academic All-Shore honoree, he became the first Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A) recruit in Jackson Liberty's four-year program history. Nwobi only played two seasons of organized football but also participated in basketball, lacrosse, and track.

Temple opens the 2011 season with cross-town rival Villanova in the third annual Mayor's Cup, sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts, on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Lincoln Financial Field.
