Atlantic 10 Lacrosse Championships Tournament Central
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Lacrosse Championships begin today, Friday, April 29 on the campus of Temple University at Geasey Field, located at 15th and Norris. Fans unable to attend can watch free live web streaming of both games by visiting the A-10 Tournament Central website. The tournament begins with the third-seeded Owls taking on second-seeded Richmond at 1:00 p.m., followed by top-seeded UMass against fourth-seeded Duquesne at 3:30 p.m.
Massachusetts earned the top-seed after finishing the A-10 regular season undefeated with a 7-0 record. The four-team field competing in Philadelphia this weekend includes #1 seeded Massachusetts (14-2, 7-0 A-10), #2 seeded Richmond (9-8, 6-1), #3 seeded Temple (7-9, 5-2) and #4 seeded Duquesne (11-6, 4-3). The championship game is set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, and will be broadcast live on CBS College Sports.
Ticket prices for the tournament are as follows: Single-day Adult Pass ($6.00), 2-day Adult Pass ($10.00), Atlantic 10 Student with ID ($3.00 single day), Children 17 & under/Senior Citizens ($4.00 single day), and groups of 8 or more (in advance only) can get $3.00 single-day passes per person. Tickets can be purchased in advance through Temple University's ticket office by calling Clayton Cochrane at 215-204-0685 or emailing clayton.cochrane@temple.edu for more information.
With a win over Saint Joseph's in the final game of the regular season, UMass put the finishing touches on a perfect regular season record in the A-10, marking the first time in school history the Minutewomen went undefeated in league play. Massachusetts joins Temple has the only two schools to perform such a feat in conference history. The Owls went undefeated in 2003 (7-0), 2002 (7-0), 2001 (5-0) and 1999 (5-0). The regular season title is the third for UMass and the second in the last three years.
