Lacrosse Sophomore Charlotte Swavola Named to A-10 First Team

Lea Britton and Jaymie Tabor Named to All-Rookie Team; Missy Schweitzer and Ann Stouffer Named All-Academic

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference revealed the 2011 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference accolades as announced by Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade on Thursday, April 28. Temple sophomore Charlotte Swavola was named to the A-10 First Team after leading the Owls in the regular season with 34 goals and 12 assists.

Freshmen Lea Britton and Jaymie Tabor were named to the All-Rookie Team, while senior Ann Stouffer and junior Missy Schweitzer were named to the All-Academic Team.

The University of Massachusetts highlights this year's awards, as voted on by the league's head coaches, claiming four of the five individual accolades including Jackie Lyons as Offensive Player of the Year, Katie Florence as the league's Defensive Player of the Year and Katie Ferris as the A-10 Rookie of the Year, while Angela McMahon garnered Coach of the Year honors. Richmond's Mary Flowers earned Midfielder of the Year accolades.

Lyons, Florence, Ferris and Flowers were all selected to the A-10 first team. Lyons and Flowers joins St. Bonaventure's Christine Hanley as repeat first-team honorees from a season ago. The other first team members include Duquesne's Meredith Dunn, Amy Gladfelter and Katie Rekart, Ali Houlis of UMass, Richmond's Taylor Blazer, Jill Remick of St. Bonaventure and Temple's Swavola.

The A-10 All-Conference accolades were announced on the eve of the 13th annual Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship, which gets under way Friday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Geasey Field on the campus of Temple University. The 2011 All-A-10 Women's Lacrosse Team, All-Rookie Team and Academic All-Conference Team are listed below.
