DALLAS – Temple University senior NT Elisha Joseph (Hartford, Conn.) will be honored tonight as a member of the 2011 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame's (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society which is comprised of college football players from all divisions who maintained a 3.2 GPA or better.

A total of 671 players from 241 schools nationally qualified for membership in 2011, the society's fifth year. Area inductees will be honored at a dinner tonight at Villanova University.

A team captain, Joseph was a first-team All-MAC and Academic All-MAC honoree. Taking over at nose tackle last fall, he started all 12 games at his new position. He finished with 44 tackles on the year. A 2010 CoSIDA Academic All-America nominee, Joseph earned Academic All-MAC recognition in 2009 and 2010. He was named to the 2010 and 2009 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Football Team. The team's 2010 George M. Illman Award recipient for leadership on and off the field, Joseph is majoring in criminal justice and has a 3.37 GPA. He will graduate on May 12.

Joseph is the second Owl to receive NFF Hampshire Honor Society recognition. In 2010, DB Jaiqauwn Jarrett (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend, was honored.

Temple opens the 2011 season with Villanova in the third annual Mayor's Cup, sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts, on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Lincoln Financial Field.
