Industry leader to continue commercial rights management of Temple Brand
PHILADELPHIA - Temple University has agreed to a three-year extension on its contract with Front Row Marketing Services, a subsidiary of the internationally recognized sports and entertainment firm Comcast-Spectacor. Front Row will continue to oversee Temple's corporate sponsorship program, while creating new opportunities for the athletic department.
"Front Row Marketing is a leader in the corporate sponsorship industry, and we could not have a better partner to represent Temple Athletics," said Bill Bradshaw, Temple University's Director of Athletics.
“We are thrilled to continue our successful relationship with Front Row Marketing” said Eric Roedl, Senior Associate Athletic Director at Temple University. “Front Row has done an outstanding job managing and building our corporate sponsorship program and has played an integral role in the elevation of our brand, both locally and nationally.”
“Our company has a terrific relationship with Temple University,” said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. “We are excited about this renewal as Temple University is a great partner with our company and we look forward to many more successes together with Comcast-Spectacor and Temple University.”
Temple University is host to over 24,000 full-time undergraduate students and has a total enrollment of over 37,000. Temple Athletics boasts a 24-sport intercollegiate program at the Division I FBS level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Temple is a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, while its football team plays in the competitive Mid-American Conference. In the past two seasons, Temple ranks fifth nationally in combined wins by its men's and women's basketball and football programs with 121 wins.
The men's basketball team enjoyed its most successful NCAA Tournament bid since the 2000-2001 season when the Owls made it to the third round under head coach Fran Dunphy. The women's basketball team advanced to the second round in their Tournament quest, the Owls eighth straight NCAA appearance. Both teams compete at the state-of-the art 10,200 seat Liacouras Center, host to over 300 events and over 400,000 visitors annually.
Anticipation is building as this fall marks the debut of new football coach Steve Addazio. The Owls, who play their home games at Lincoln Financial Field, open the 2011 season against cross-town rival Villanova in the third Mayor's Cup game, sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts, on Thursday, September 1. Additionally, Temple will host Penn State this season and recently announced a three-year agreement with Notre Dame which will bring the Fighting Irish to Philadelphia in 2014.
In addition to the Dunkin' Donuts partnership, other notable agreements that have been secured through Front Row include great sponsorships with Verizon Wireless, Pepsi, Under Armour, PNC, Novacare, and Independence Blue Cross. Over the past 18 months, Front Row has increased its college portfolio to also include James Madison University, Colonial Athletic Association, Drexel University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Northeastern University and St. Cloud State University.
"After an extremely successful partnership, I am pleased that Temple Athletics has agreed to an extension,” said Front Row Marketing Services Regional Vice President Bryan Furey. “We have worked tremendously hard to develop a strong partnership that fully benefits both Temple Athletics and our corporate partners to the fullest. We will continue to strive to meet Temple's high standards and look forward to continually producing the desired results for the university.”
