Junior honored with first-team selection to All-America squad

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Temple softball player Rachel Knable has been named to The Jewish Sports Review's 2011 Women's Softball All-America Team, as announced by the publication earlier this month. Knable receives the honor for the first time in her career.

To be selected to the JSR All-America team, an athlete has at least one Jewish parent, does not practice another faith and identifies ethnically as a Jew.

The junior second baseman had the best season of her career, earning a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 Second-Team for the first time. She batted a career-best .288 with personal records for hits (36), doubles (8), triples (1) and RBI (28). Her eight doubles tied for the team lead, while the 28 runs batted in was the second-highest total on the squad.

The Temple softball team posted a 22-23 overall record and a 12-6 mark in A-10 play. The Owls advanced to the conference tournament for the first time since 2007.
