Cauthen Named Video Coordinator for Football

Owls Open Training Camp Today
PHILADELPHIA – Ben Cauthen has been named the video coordinator for football at Temple University, head coach Steve Addazio announced on Friday.
“We're very excited to welcome Ben Cauthen as our new video coordinator at Temple,” Addazio said. “Ben comes to us from The Citadel in South Carolina. He's a former high school and college football player. He brings knowledge of the game as well as great knowledge of the operations of a major college video department. We're happy to have him join our staff.”
Cauthen comes to Philadelphia after three seasons as the video coordinator for The Citadel football program. He coordinated all video operations for the football team, including game exchanges, game film, practice film, and motivational highlights.
The Lancaster, S.C., native was a first-team All-Area and All-Regional 4A quarterback at Lancaster High School in 2001. Cauthen is a 2007 graduate of the University of South Carolina, earning a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and mass communication. He played football at Coast Carolina for two seasons (2002-03) before transferring the South Carolina. Cauthen received a master's degree in social studies in August 2011 from The Citadel.
While in Columbia, he worked for WIS-TV.
Temple, which opened training camp today, returns 46 lettermen, including 13 starters. The Owls open the 2011 season with cross-city rival Villanova in the third annual Mayor's Cup, sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts, at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday, Sept. 1. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Temple also hosts Penn State on Sept. 17 at Noon at Lincoln Financial Field. Individual game tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
