Women's Soccer Set To Battle Rider Friday Night

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Friday night at 7 p.m., the Owls (2-4-0) take on the Rider Broncs (4-2-1) on the road, where they'll be looking to salvage a victory in the final game of their latest five-game road swing.
Temple is coming off back-to-back shutout losses to Buffalo and Niagara last weekend.
In Sunday's 1-0 heartbreaking double-overtime defeat to the Purple Eagles, the Owls displayed aggressive pressure on both sides of the ball. Playing without senior Niki Conn, who came into the match as the team's leading scorer, Temple managed to have an abundance of scoring chances, but were unfortunate in converting on opportunities. The Owls outshot Niagara, having 15 shots in the game, eight of which were pelted on goal and stopped.
Senior Gillian Kacsuta made her first start of the season in goal for the Owls. The seasoned veteran netminder held Niagara scoreless through the first 101 minutes of the contest, while making three saves.
Rider rolls into Friday night's matchup on a two-game winning streak and winning four of its last five games.
The Broncs are coming off Sunday's 5-0 win over Wagner. Junior Abi Cottam, who leads the team with five goals and 12 points, had two goals and an assist to lead Rider in the win.
Freshman Danielle Singson is 4-1 this season in between the posts. So far this season, she has let up just three goals and has posed a 0.79 goals against average.
Prior to the kickoff of Friday evening's game, Rider University will be holding a ceremony to dedicate its newly turfed field to 2010 graduate Ben Cohen.
