BRONX, N.Y. - The Temple women's cross country squad opened the 2011 running season at Van Courtlandt Park for Iona College's 17th annual Brother Doyle Meet of Champions with a 14th place overall finish. In her collegiate debut, freshman Jenna Dubrow placed the quickedst among Temple runners with a time of 23:48.52, earning her 39th place overall.
Iona beat out Penn by 55 seconds to take first place in its own meet.
Fifteen runners particlpated in the 6K run for the Owls in Saturday's meet. Finishing after DuBrow was sophomore Anna Pavone, who placed 80th with a time of 24:54.14.
Sophomore Erin Casey crossed the finish line in 25:13 to take 91st place, before junior Dierdre MacFarlane came in 97th (25:20), sophomore Kelly Broadbent in 103rd (25:29i), sophomore Stephanie Dorentes (25:35) and sophomore Taylor Goldsworthy in 117th (25:48) out of 202 runners.
Temple will have off until Sept. 30th when it heads to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Invitational.
