INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Taking on the Butler Bulldogs for the second time in program history and for the first time as a fellow Atlantic 10 Conference member, Temple Women's Soccer fell to the Bulldogs, 2-1 on a heart-breaking goal in the 87th minute by Sophia MacCagone.

Trailing by a goal after MacCagone netted her first of both goals in the 28th minute, freshman Paige Rachel tallied her second goal of the season when she was dealt a pass from sophomore Alyssa Kirk in the 38th minute. Having a goal against Massachusetts last Sunday, Kirk has had three points in the last two games.

Going into the halftime huddle deadlocked at one, Butler held a slight edge in the shots category, having five to Temple's four.

The Bulldogs possessed the ball well against the Owls strong defensive unit in the second session. Temple was held shotless in the second half, while Butler had nine blasts in the final 45 minutes.

Freshman Shauni Kerkhoff made four saves in goal, while her counterpart Julie Burton needed to make only one save for the Bulldogs to secure the victory.

Temple, who drops to 5-10-2 on the year and 2-4-0 in A-10 play, will make its way to St. Louis, Mo. for its final road match of the season when it takes on the Saint Louis Billikens on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET.
