PHILADELPHIA -
With a convincing 2-0 win over Massachusetts last weekend, Temple Women's Soccer looks to build off the momentum in hopes of staying in contention for the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament, which is just two weeks away. The Owls will make the trip to Indianapolis on Friday to take on their new A-10 rival Butler at 8:00 p.m. ET. From there, the team will then head to St. Louis, where it will take on the Saint Louis Billikens on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET.

After losing a tough contest in overtime to Rhode Island last Friday, Temple rebounded in Sunday's match against UMass, bringing the team to a 5-9-2 record on the year, and 2-3-0 in A-10 play. Sophomore Alyssa Kirk started of the festivities Sunday scoring her first goal this season in the 29th minute when she was fed a pass from freshman Paula Jurewicz.

Senior Jourdan Brill followed that with a goal of her own about 10 minutes later when she was in position to nail home junior Karly O'Toole's free kick attempt in the 37th minute, giving the Owls their first two-goal game in over a year.

Brill leads the team in points with five coming from two goals and an assist. Freshman goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff continues to shine in Temple's stout defense and with help from redshirt senior Tara Murphy, Temple's save percentage (.885) is ranked eighth in the nation. Kerkhoff's 0.51 goals against average leads Temple, as do her four shutouts this year. The Owls have already compiled six shutouts in 2012, marking the most the program has had in 20 years. Two more shutouts would tie the school record, which was set during the program's inaugural season back in 1991.

Butler (8-4-3, 2-1-2) is coming off a tough 1-0 loss at A-10 rival Virginia Commonwealth. Freshman midfielder Sophia Maccagnone is the Bulldogs' points leader, racking up 17 points on eight goals and one assist. Freshman Mackenzie Hopkins and junior Julie Burton have split time in goal this season with Burton getting the bulk of playing time. The team has a 0.82 goals against average, which Hopkins has had an impact in with her own at 0.64.

Saint Louis comes into Sunday's contest looking to stop the bleeding of a three-game losing streak, which has brought their record to 3-8-3 on the year, and 1-3-1 in A-10 play. They will play Saint Joseph's on Friday before hosting the Owls. Junior forward Jennie Hummert leads all Billiken scorers with her six points, which have come from a pair of goals and a pair of assists. Leading the Billikens in goal has been senior Katie Walsh, who has accumulated a 1.11 goals against average along with 63 saves on the year.

Temple, who is looking for its first-ever win over Butler and its second against Saint Louis, needs one win this weekend to have their most A-10 victories (3) since 2009. Should the Owls win both games, it would mark only the second time in program history that the team has won four conference games in one season.
