NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released its annual women's soccer awards on Wednesday in preparation for the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship, which begins this Thursday, Nov. 1 at the University of Rhode Island's Soccer Complex in Kingston, R.I. Among those recognized, Temple freshmen Shauni Kerkhoff and Erin Lafferty were tabbed to the A-10's All-Rookie Team.

In her first season as a member of the Cherry & White, Kerkhoff tallied three wins and put up sensational numbers for the Owls in between the goal posts.

Through 11 appearances, which included nine starts, the freshman from Westerville, Ohio secured four of the team's seven shutouts, while making stops on 63 shots and posting an impressive goals against average of 0.83 and the A-10's highest save percentage at .887.

Lafferty was a major contributor to Temple's defensive unit, which held opponents scoreless in seven games and to a 1.05 goals a game.

The native of Willow Grove, Pa. started all 20 games for the Owls, in  which she registred five shots, including her first career goal against Rhode Island back on Oct. 12.

Kerkhoff and Lafferty are the first Temple members named to the A-10 All-Rookie team since fellow teammate Kate Yurkovic was given the recognition in 2009.
