Temple’s Montel Harris Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

Freshman Matakevich Named to Honor Roll
PROVIDENCE – Temple senior RB Montel Harris (Jacksonville, Fla.) has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, the Conference announced on Monday.
True freshman LB Tyler Matakevich (Stratford, Conn.) was also named to the BIG EAST's five-man Honor Roll.
In Saturday's 37-28 win over South Florida in the BIG EAST opener, Harris recorded his first 100-yard performance with the Owls, leading the rushers with 133 yards and two touchdowns. He leads the nation with 23 total 100-yard games in his career.
Harris also earned BIG EAST Helmet Stickers from ESPN.
The BIG EAST honor is the first for Harris this season and third for an Owl. Senior PK/P Brandon McManus earned Specialist of the Week honors twice.
Matakevich, who started his first collegiate game, led the Owls with a career-high 15 tackles, including a career-high 12 solo stops and two TFL. He was named national Honorable Mention Player of the Week at linebacker by the College Football Performance Awards.
Temple (2-2, 1-0 BIG EAST) travels to Connecticut (3-3, 0-1) on Oct. 13 for a 1 p.m. game. ESPN3 will broadcast the game online.
