PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's basketball team hosts Alcorn State Monday in the first of four straight Chevrolet Gotham Classic games.  Monday's game with the Braves tips off at 7:00 p.m. and can be heard on 610WIP and seen online via OwlAccess.

Temple, under the direction of seventh-year head coach Fran Dunphy, is led by the play of senior guards Scootie Randall (14.9 pg.) and Khalif Wyatt (13.5 ppg.).  Besides topping the team in scoring, Randall also leads the Cherry and White in rebounding (7.8 rpg.), three-pointers (15) and minutes played (35.9 mpg.). Wyatt tops Temple and ranks sixth in the Atlantic 10 Conference in assists, averaging 4.5 per game.

Sophomore forward Anthony Lee (10.5 ppg., 6.5 rpg.) is the only other Owl averaging double figures while ranking fifth in the A10 in field goal percentage (.586).  Senior forward Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson, coming off a career-best 20-point outing in the team's win over Towson, is one point away from averaging double figures (9.9 ppg.) while ranking fourth in the A10 in steals (2.4 spg) and ninth in blocks (1.6 bpg.).  Sophomore guard Will Cummings (5.8 ppg.) rounds out the TU starting five.

Graduate students Jake O'Brien (6.4 ppg.) and T.J. DiLeo (4.3 ppg.) along with junior Dalton Pepper (2.3 ppg.) give Dunphy solid veterans off the bench. Freshman Quenton DeCosey (4.4 ppg.), who scored a career-high 13 points against Duke, is continuing to earn more minutes.

Alcorn State, under the direction of second-year head coach Luther Riley, heads into a game at Arkansas Saturday with a 2-6 record.  The Braves boast three double figure scorers led by junior guard Anthony Evans (13.1 ppg.).  Sophomore guard LeAntwan Luckett (13.0 ppg.) and senior guard Anthony Nieves (10,3 ppg.) are the other two Alcorn State offensive threats.

This is the first meeting between the teams.
