PHILADELPHIA – Shey Peddy tied her career high with 31 points, scoring 24 of those in the second half to lift Temple women's basketball to its 12th straight victory, a 75-65 win against visiting Saint Joseph's (18-9, 8-5 A-10, 2-2 Big 5). It was the final home game of the season for the Owls (19-8, 12-1 A-10, 2-1 Big 5), who celebrated Senior Night and got strong contributions from all four seniors in the win.

Peddy hit 12-of-18 from the field and 5-of-6 at the line, tying her career high with a bucket in the final minute of the game. She also dished four assists and recorded two steals.

Kristen McCarthy put the team on her back in the first half, scoring 18 points and finishing with 19 in the game. BJ Williams dished eight assists and grabbed five rebounds, while Joelle Connelly scored six points and also grabbed five boards.

One non-senior who had a big night was junior Victoria Macaulay who scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and led the Owls with seven rebounds.

Michelle Baker led the Hawks with 20 points, and Katie Kuester scored 16 including 4-of-6 buckets from behind the arc. Saint Joseph's Kelly Cavallo led all players with 12 rebounds.

Neither team led by more than five in a back-and-forth first half which saw four ties and six lead changes. McCarthy stormed out of the gate with two early buckets, and at one point scored eight points in a row for Temple as part of a 10-4 run.

The Owls' largest lead of the half came with 6:31 remaining at the end of that run as they took a five-point, 25-20 lead, but the Hawks answered with a 9-0 run to take a 29-25 lead. It would be their largest lead of the game as Temple then closed the half on an 11-2 run. The run included six more points from McCarthy, who wowed the Senior Night crowd with a buzzer-beating layup that gave the Owls a 34-31 lead at the break.

Peddy picked up in the second half right where McCarthy left off, scoring 16 points in less than nine minutes. She sank three buckets as part of an 11-2 opening run, the third of which gave Temple its first double-digit lead, and less than five minutes in the Owls led by 13, 48-35.

The Hawks came within nine before the Peddy show continued. She scored all seven points of a 7-0 run that put the Owls ahead by their largest margin of 16, 57-41 with 12:19 remaining. The final three points of the run were scored at the free throw line, starting a span in which the Owls suffered a drought from the field for over three minutes.

Before the drought ended the Hawks narrowed the margin to 10, but they would come no closer the rest of the way. Saint Joe's matched that deficit again only at the end of the game thanks to Kuester's fourth three-pointer. Peddy scored six more points down the stretch and tied her career high with less than a minute remaining.

The Owls will play their final regular season game on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 1:00 p.m. at La Salle. The game will count for both the A-10 and Big 5 standings. Villanova earned this year's Big 5 title with a 4-0 record, but Temple will take second by itself with a win on Saturday.
