No. 10 Men's Gymnastics Continues Consistency; Defeats William & Mary and Army

Temple has won seven of its eight meets this season; Visits Penn State Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The No. 10 Temple men's gymnastics team took the top score for the sixth straight meet as the Owls posted a 339.200 to defeat host William & Mary 331.800 and Army 325.500 at Kaplan Arena on Saturday evening.
Temple flooded the standing in floor exercise, as the Owls took the top three scores. John Leonard earned the Owls top score with his routine in the floor exercise with a score of 14.800. Brett Statman's score of 14.600 earned him second place, while Allan Malone was a close third-place finisher, with a count of 14.500.
Statman and Leonard were consistent over the course of their events on Saturday night, as the two gymnasts tied for second overall on the vault with like scores 14.400. Jeff Zack matched his teammates with the same score. Malone, Matt Martin and Michael Bittner tied for the Owls' second-best score in the event, tying for seventh place overall with a score of 14.000.
Bittner had a strong performance earlier in the night, as he earned Temple's highest score on pommel horse, 14.800, placing second overall—behind only Army's Garrek Hojan-Clark.
Alex Tighe posted a 14.500 to tie Daniel Potemski from William & Mary for third place in the event.
Coming off his ECAC Gymnast of the Week honor, Taylor Brana earned Temple's third best score on pommel, sporting a 13.900. Senior Chris Mooney placed just short of Brana, taking a 13.800.
On rings, Dashiell Sears' score of 14.500 was good enough for the runner-up spot and for Temple's highest score. Brana and Blake Collins tied for third and for second-best team score with matching tallies of14.300.
Temple placed three gymnasts inside the top 10 in the parallel bars event, as Logan Fiery earned the Owls' best score, 14.000, for fourth place.
Brendan Williams earned fifth overall with a count of 13.900. while Tighe held a close sixth place score of 13.800 on the apparatus.
Having titles in seven of its eight meets this season, the Owls look to its final regular season meet at State College, Pa. next Saturday at 7:00 p.m. when they go head-to-head against Penn State—the only squad to finish above them at a meet this season.
