BIG EAST Announces 2012 Football Schedule

Owls to Host Cincinnati, Rutgers, South Florida & Syracuse in BIG EAST Action
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST Conference announced its 2012 football schedule on Tuesday.
The Temple Owls, under second-year head coach Steve Addazio, will open the season with Villanova in the fourth annual Mayor's Cup, sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts, at Lincoln Financial Field on Friday, August 31.
Temple entertains Maryland (Sept. 8) before travelling to Penn State (Sept. 22).
The Owls open BIG EAST play at home with South Florida (Oct. 6) during its annual Homecoming game. TU travels to Connecticut (Oct. 13) before hosting regional rival Rutgers (Oct. 20). The Owls then hit the road for two games, visiting Pitt (Oct. 27) and Louisville (Nov. 3).
Temple returns home to entertain Cincinnati (Nov. 10) before travelling to Army (Nov. 17) for its last non-conference game. CBS College Sports Network will televise the game.
The Owls host Syracuse in the regular-season finale on Friday, Nov. 23. The game will be televised nationally by ABC/ESPN or ESPN2.
Temple plays all home games at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia. Kickoff times and television appearances will be announced at a later date.
On March 7, the BIG EAST announced that Temple would join the conference for all sports. After five years in the Mid-American Conference, Temple football begins BIG EAST play immediately this fall, while all other Owl sports, including men's and women's basketball, will leave the Atlantic 10 Conference and begin play in the BIG EAST starting in 2013-14. This will be the first time in Temple's history that all of its intercollegiate athletic programs will compete in one conference.
The Owls are in the midst of spring drills. The 2012 Cherry & White Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 14 at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. Admission and parking are FREE.
