Sophomore picks up first honor of career
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Temple's Brooklin White (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week, sharing the award with Dayton's Kayla English, the league office announced on Monday. It is the first such honor of White's career.
White went the distance in two games over the weekend, earning a record of 1-1. The sophomore allowed only one run on five hits in a 5-1 win against Purdue, a team receiving votes in the most recent national poll, while striking out three batters. For the week, White pitched 13 innings while allowing five runs on 12 base hits and striking out six.
The Owls are 4-6 after two challenging tournaments to open 2012. The squad will play an exhibition game against the Netherlands National Team on Thursday, March 8, before kicking off play at the USF Under Armour Showcase Tournament against Cleveland State at 9:15 a.m. on March 9.
