Osei Picks Up Atlantic 10 Tennis Weekly Honor

Freshman tabbed rookie performer of the week
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Temple's Maame Ama Osei (Lanham, Md./The Bullis School) has received a weekly award from the Atlantic 10 Conference, the league office announced Monday. Osei was named the Women's Tennis Rookie Performer of the Week. It is the first award of her career.
Osei went 4-0 on the week with a 3-0 singles record and a 1-0 mark in doubles play in a 2-1 week for Temple. In singles play, she did not drop a set this week, playing at three different flights (3, 5 and 6). The rookie has put together a 17-8 overall singles record, going 10-3 this spring and 4-1 against league foes. She is 9-1 in her last 10 singles bouts, including five-straight wins. Of her 17 singles victories, only one has gone to three sets.
Temple is 12-10 overall and will head to the Atlantic 10 Championship to vie for its first conference title since 2008 this weekend. The single elimination event begins Thursday at The Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
