Stephanie Markunas Named A-10 Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Temple senior midfielder Stephanie Markunas as its lacrosse player of the week on Monday for the week of April 2 -April 8, 2012. Markunas joins junior defender Kelsey Palmer of Massachusetts and Richmond freshman midfielder Emily Doyle, who were selected as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week as its Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Markunas recorded her fourth hat trick of the season with three goals in a 14-13 losing effort to No.18 Princeton. She also tallied two assists against the nationally-ranked Tigers. Markunas then scored a goal and three assists in a 13-9 conference win over La Salle. In all, she recorded nine total points for the week with four goals and five assists.
The Ridley Park, Pa., native led all players with six draw controls in the La Salle win, finishing with eight total draws for the week. Markunas also had three total ground balls and a caused turnover against La Salle.
