5.18.12 | Football, General, Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA – Temple Athletics' behind-the-scenes television series have been nominated for a prestigious national award. Both Temple TUFF: Behind the Scenes with Temple Football and Temple Basketball: Above the Rim have been named finalists for the College Sports Media Awards in the category of “Best Program – Series”.
The awards are presented by the Sports Video Group and the National Association of the Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the College Sports Video Summit in Atlanta, GA on June 6.
The programs that air on Comcast SportsNet are produced by 20/20 Visual Media. The 12 part mini-series tells the stories not always seen by Owls fans, but rather the behind-the-scenes stories that play a big role in what makes the football and men's and women's basketball programs so successful.
“It is no surprise that both shows have been nominated for national awards,” said Larry Dougherty, Temple University's Senior Associate Athletic Director for Communications. “2020 Visual Media has produced high quality shows that have earned rave reviews from our fan base as well as strong ratings on Comcast SportsNet.”
“We are very excited and honored to have been nominated for such a prestigious award”, said Patrick Rosenbaum, co-producer of the programs. “It is very gratifying to see that the Temple television shows and Athletic Program are being recognized among the nation's elite. We want to thank Temple Athletics for the opportunity to share their amazing stories with the city of Philadelphia”.
In addition to the two nominations, 20/20 Visual Media received two Honorable Mentions for a segment on Temple basketball's charity work and a “hype” video that preceded the men's team's post-season.
This is the fourth year for the College Sports Media Awards. Since it began, the awards have recognized the best in college sports production nationwide, in 16 different categories ranging from local, to regional, to network productions.
