Missy Schweitzer Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Lacrosse Team

PHILADELPHIA - For the second year in a row, Temple's Missy Schweitzer is one of 12 student-athletes who have been selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Lacrosse Team. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Penn senior Emily Leitner has been named the 2012 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Lacrosse Performer of the Year.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
Schweitzer far exceeded the minimum qualifications, with a 3.86 GPA as a kinesiology major. She was named to Temple's Trustee Ten as both a junior and senior at the annual Breakfast of Champions for being one of the 10 student-athletes with the highest GPA's in the entire department. Schweitzer is also a three-time Atlantic 10 All-Academic honoree, and a four-year member of the President's Honor Roll. She scored 20 goals in her senior season to rank fifth on the team, and tied for third with 22 ground balls.
