NEW YORK, N.Y. - Kristen McCarthy, former standout for Temple women's basketball, has signed on with Faenza in Italy to begin her professional playing career.  McCarthy is slotted to join the Club Atletico Faenza, who finished sixth in their league last year and made an appearance in the Italian Cup Semifinals in 2011. McCarthy is a 2012 graduate of Temple, and finished her career ranked fourth all-time in program history with 1,619 points.

McCarthy was named to the Atlantic 10 Second Team for the past two seasons (2010-11, 2011-12), and helped lead Temple to three NCAA Tournament appearances in her career. She was also selected as a nominee for the highly exclusive 2011-12 Lowe's Senior CLASS award, which is awarded to a women's basketball player who demonstrations high character, class, involvement in community and competition.

In a win against Charlotte during the 2009-10 season, McCarthy scored 42 points to break a 27-year old single-game scoring record, and also set a new Liacouras Center record. As a senior, McCarthy ranked second on the team with 12.6 points per game. She played in 131 games in her Temple career which is the most of any player in the history of the program.
