Breland and Osei first round winners

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's tennis team sent four players to the Saint Joseph's Invitational, being held at Saint Joseph's University on Friday-Sunday, September 28-30. Doubles play was on the docket on Friday with Rebecca Breland and Maame Ama Osei representing at the first flight, and Carly Bohman and Cristina Grimaldi playing at flight two.

Breland and Osei got the day started off well, defeating Drexel's duo of Alex Bell and Emma Brook, 8-4. The pair came up against a tough Delaware team of Carmen Lai and Dorothy Safron, falling 8-2 in the second round.

Bohman and Grimaldi lost by default in their opening round match. Due to injuries to their partners, Bohman teamed up with Saint Francis' Lucy Jasso to play Lydia Colvin and Alyssa McAndrew of Bucknell in the consolation quarterfinal round. The new duo nearly pulled off the win, dropping a 9-8(1) match to the Bison.

Singles play gets underway Saturday morning.
